Open Access & Licensing

The Global Journal of Biosciences and Environment (GJBE) is a fully open access journal. GJBE supports broad access to scientific knowledge: published articles are freely and immediately accessible online, with no subscription, paywall, or embargo period, so that researchers, students, institutions, and practitioners worldwide can read and use scientific work without unnecessary barriers.

License

All articles published in GJBE are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated. This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author(s) and source are credited, in accordance with accepted academic practice. Under this license, readers may:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, for any purpose, including commercially.
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially.

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as the license terms — principally, attribution to the original authors — are followed.

Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of their published work and grant GJBE the right of first publication. Authors are free to deposit any version of their manuscript (submitted, accepted, or published) in institutional or subject repositories at any time, with acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal. See the Copyright Policy for full details of author rights.

No Article Processing Charges (during launch phase)

GJBE does not currently levy article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, or any other fee on authors for publication. Should this policy change in the future, it will be announced clearly on this page and communicated to authors before submission, with no retroactive charges applied to previously submitted manuscripts.

Self-Archiving (Green Open Access)

Because all content is published openly at the point of publication, authors do not need to rely on self-archiving to achieve open access. Authors are nonetheless encouraged to deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories (e.g. PubMed Central, bioRxiv), and academic networking sites, with a link to the version of record on the journal website.

Machine Readability and Text/Data Mining

As a CC BY 4.0 publication, GJBE content may be used for text and data mining purposes, including by automated tools, subject to proper attribution.

Permissions for Third-Party Material

Authors retain scholarly responsibility for their work and must obtain and provide evidence of permission from the copyright holder to reproduce any third-party material (figures, tables, images, or extended quotations) that is not their own original work and not already available under a compatible open license.
